About Us |
|
Oklahoma Hearts For Adoption began in a small Sunday School class full of members whose hearts had been touched five years ago when one family in the class adopted a child. The class was full of Christian parents that felt God commanding them to help parentless children in some manner, but if not adoption then what? The answer God provided is Oklahoma Hearts For Adoption. Through this organization those whom God has called to adopt can find resources, prayer warriors, and financial aid.

Board Members Becky Guffy - Chairperson As a wife, mother of three, Grammy of eight, and a recently retired elementary school teacher, I was being gently nudged by God. He was showing me that I wasn’t through “caring” for children. My reaction was that I had grandchildren, and I had a lot of caring to do. But He kept nudging. The first nudge I put in a drawer. His second “push” I took to heart. That is when we started Oklahoma Hearts for Adoption. We are doing what God has commanded us to do—caring enough to help the children find “home”. And you can walk along beside us.
Connie Johnson - Secretary I am the wife of a Godly man and mother of six beautiful children. I didn’t grow up in church and never heard the Gospel message until I was 23 years old. It took a while for the message to take hold, but God was patient and persistent with me until I finally responded in 2001 and called on Him as Lord and Savior. While I regret the 36 years I ‘wasted’ before knowing Christ, I believe that coming to a relationship with Him as an adult has given my husband and I a passion for Him we might not have had otherwise. When I accepted Christ, I completely surrendered my life to whatever He would call me to do, and I never imagined it would be growing our family through the miracle of adoption, three times.
Abby Mason - Treasure I am truly blessed to be a part of this organization. My heart has always been geared towards children. As a wife and mother of two small boys I have seen God’s blessings through their eyes and dearly desire to help others. I have spent the last five years working with Buckner Orphan Care International traveling on many overseas mission trips ministering to orphans around the world. It is amazing to see what God is doing not only locally here in our community but around the world as well. I want to continue to minister to orphans internationally, while exploring opportunities to unite these children with permanent homes here in the states.
April Mueller - Member I am married to a Godly man for over 18 years and have two beautiful daughters. I am part of our Youth Staff at our church and love being around all ages of children. I have a very heavy heart for children around the world without homes or families to call their own. I have been very close with the process of adoption through my close friends, as close as I can be without adopting myself. My heart was forever changed when I traveled to China with my friends and saw first hand the “fatherless”. Although my love for children is very strong, my husband and I do not feel adoption is for us at this point in our lives. But those strong feelings did not go away, and I still felt that the Lord was calling me to do something. This is where Oklahoma Hearts For Adoption came into my life. I am very excited about what we represent and how God is going to use all of us in this never-ending journey.
Ladena Shaffer - Member I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three wonderful daughters. I have felt called for years to somehow help children in the foster care system. Then when my good friends adopted internationally I was made aware of the needs of children around the world. While my husband and I do not feel God is calling us to adopt, He is calling us to help children domestically and internationally. Oklahoma Hearts For Adoption is how God has led me to answer His call. |
